Renowned for her agility in high-pressure situations, empathetic client engagement, and a sharp focus on personalised care, Tina embodies the qualities needed to support clients through the intricacies of rehabilitation.
Her multifaceted background offers assurance and guidance for individuals navigating the complexities of injury recovery.
Let’s take a look into Tina’s professional story first-hand and learn about the unique perspectives and commitment Tina brings to our customers and clients.
As she shares her philosophy on adaptive care, and her strategic approach to rehabilitation, it becomes clear how her experiences will elevate our mission at Interact.
Military precision meets rehabilitation
While transitioning from military service to civilian rehabilitation, I’ve carried over a suite of skills that are highly relevant to supporting individuals recovering from physical and psychological injuries.
The military taught me about determination and the ability to adjust to rapidly changing circumstances—a critical asset when assisting clients in setting and achieving their post-injury goals.
My adeptness in interpersonal communication, refined by working within a multifaceted organisation, enables me to collaborate effectively with clients, forming cohesively planned return to work strategies that leave them feeling invested and supported.
Challenges on the front lines
In my years as a healthcare professional, I’ve encountered situations that tested both my skillset and emotional poise—none more so than unsuccessful resuscitation attempts.
Such high-stakes environments demanded quick thinking, decisive action, and, notably, the need for post-event debriefings.
Reflecting on these experiences and seeking psychological support have not only strengthened my resilience but have also underlined the importance of continual professional development to address gaps in practice.
These lessons are invaluable when empathising with clients and guiding them through their rehabilitation challenges.
Interdisciplinary synergy
Throughout my career as a Registered Nurse, operating in diverse settings such as emergency departments and operating theatres, the constant has been the reliance on teamwork to deliver comprehensive care.
Trust and active collaboration with various health professionals are what I consider foundational pillars in my work.
As I step into the rehabilitation space, I will continue to cultivate these multidisciplinary relationships, ensuring my clients benefit from a rounded and informed recovery strategy.
Personalised care through empathy
Adapting to individual needs is at the heart of personalised care.
To me, it’s about understanding and respecting where each client stands on their journey.
This approach is vital in encouraging, reassuring, and celebrating the milestones—no matter how big or small.
Whether it’s adjusting the pace of a recovery plan or customising return to work programs, the ability to empathise and connect on a personal level is crucial.
By drawing upon frontline clinical experiences, I will continue to tailor rehabilitation plans that are as unique as the clients themselves.
Guidance for employers
For employers navigating the return to work process for their employees, the role of a rehabilitation consultant cannot be overstated.
Three crucial practices can pave the way for a smooth transition:
1. Seek support and clarification
It’s important to not shy away from asking for professional assistance to understand the intricacies of the return to work process, and to identify and address any barriers.
2. Collaborate effectively
A collaborative spirit between employees and employers can significantly contribute to a positive and effective return to work.
Identifying suitable tasks and adaptations will signify to the employee that their wellbeing is a priority.
3. Communicate openly
Maintaining clear and open communication channels among all stakeholders is essential for aligning expectations and understanding the return to work procedure.
At Interact, we understand the importance of combining clinical knowledge, practical experience, and valuable insights from diverse backgrounds to assist in the recovery and return to work process.
With Tina Brown as part of our Newcastle team, we’re enhancing our ability to deliver individualised care, draw on the strengths of interdisciplinary teams, and provide robust workplace support.
